The stairs case
It
is the more evident element of uniqueness of the Trullo Sovrano
as no other has an increased height of the building by one story
that you can get to from the inside through stairs like this ones.
The
fancy inspiration of the wall workman who built the Trullo Sovrano,
unfortunately is unknown, reaches its top in the idea of this important
structural-architectural solution.
Our
clever "caseddaro" (this is still the actual name of the
workmen who build and restore trulli, that is to say "casedde"),
having the problem of entering the first floor, devises this stairway
and decides to lacate it in the thickness of the wall between the
hall and the kitchen.
It
is made of twenty-three reliable and ease steps. It is both encumbering
and invisible as well.
