The kitchen
You
can enter the wide kitchen from the hall, through a passage on which
the stairs leading to the first floor are based.
The
rectangular place widens further thanks to the openings, which make
it communicate with the inside-court garden in an extraordinary
integration of architectonic movements and natural colours.
A short
side of the room is occupied by an elegant profile fire-place, reconstructed
during the latest restoration.  There
was at its place a hearth shaped fire that during the living life
of the Trullo Sovrano was demolished and replaced by a more recent
kitchen.
However,
the enchantment of the fire seems to be untouched, its power of
fascination on children, when, gathered around it, they listened
to the life stories of their grandparents.
